Abstract

Aim. To analyze modern practical aspects of crisis political communication management, to define this phenomenon of crisis communications and the main basic scenarios of crisis management implementation.

Methodology. In order to achieve the set goal, the author performed a review of existing studies of crisis political communication management created by Russian and foreign authors. Basically, the researchers of crisis political communication describe the interaction of actors at the macro level (heads of state, government agencies, etc.). In turn, the author of this article focused on the study of crisis communications at the Russian regional level. The obtained material was structured to create a matrix of political communication management and to detail the stages of crisis political communication management. The main methods used in the work were analytical and descriptive.

Results. In the process of the study, the stages of crisis political communication management were analyzed: 1. Obtaining and analyzing information. 2. Preparation and decision making. 3. Organization of the implementation of the decisions made. 4. Control and evaluation of results. 5. Making corrections. The specifics of the options for eliminating or leveling the problems arising at each of these stages are also described. One of the key conclusions of the study concerns the effectiveness of crisis communications, namely, crisis communications are maximally effective when they allow turning the crisis into a field of opportunities for all opposing parties.

Research implications. For the first time a versatile analysis of modern practical aspects of crisis political communication has been conducted. The main stages of crisis political communication management are detailed. The obtained results can be used in practice in the development of crisis communication management strategy at the federal and regional levels.

Abstract

Aim. To identify controversial issues in contemporary comparative political science and present to the scientific community mini-studies on some of the controversial issues in political comparative studies.

Methodology. During the continuation of the round table (the beginning was published in No. 3 2024), held at Moscow University with the support of the Russian Social and Humanitarian Journal, topical issues of the methodology of political comparative studies were discussed (opportunities of the civilizational paradigm in conducting cross-cultural and cross-national political studies, use of the comparative historical method in political comparative studies), and the results of a comparative analysis of modern political institutions and processes in some countries of the near and far abroad were presented.

Results. It has been established that the most promising field for comparative political science is the use of the civilizational approach as a methodology of comparative studies, as well as the use of qualitative methods of scientific research. Of greatest interest for comparative analysis are the 2024 elections in European countries, the interstate policy of China, the USA and India in the field of health care, as well as political processes and institutions in post-Soviet countries.

Research implications. The results of the study may be of interest to political scientists specializing in the field of political comparative studies, theory and methodology, and the study of international relations.

Abstract

Aim. Based on a comparative analysis of the two convocations, identify trends in the social-demographic characteristics of deputies of the Central Administrative District of Moscow and deduce the social portrait of the municipal leader.

Methodology. The study was conducted by comparative analysis based on the author's official materials and open data from the official websites of the councils of municipal deputies, media and social networks. The database was compiled according to the following characteristics: gender, age, specialty, field of activity and position, marital status and party affiliation.

Results. Based on the study of social-demographic characteristics, conclusions were drawn about changes in the composition of deputy bodies in 2022 compared to 2017 (an increase in the number of women, a decrease in the participation of youth representatives in politics, an increase in the number of representatives of the United Russia party, priority for candidates - heads of state institutions, etc.), which, first of all, according to the author, is due to transformations in the social-political context. The data obtained allowed us to describe the social portrait of the deputy of the CAO municipal district by modal values.

Research implications. The results obtained will be used by the author as a part of a large-scale study of local government in Moscow and will be useful in the process of conceptualizing the idea of municipal leadership. The data will serve as one of the bases for the first stage of the analysis of the political and psychological characteristics of the municipal leaders of the Central Administrative District and can later be used to predict electoral behavior and build election campaigns in Moscow.

Abstract

Aim. To analyze the opinions of political scientists about the consequences of the start of the special military operation in Ukraine for the modern world.

Methodology. Qualitative text analysis was used as the main research method. The works of Russian and foreign political scientists, who studied the consequences of the start of the special military operation in Ukraine for the modern world, were studied and summarized.

Results. The conducted research suggests that, according to Russian and foreign political scientists, the political and social processes taking place in Russia have a significant impact on the life of the world community. The unipolar world order which is characterized by the hegemony of the West, carried out through the organization of “color revolutions”, the outbreak of wars in different parts of the world, and the decline in the standard of living of most of the world’s population, was the result of the economic and political weakening of Russia in the 1990s. The strengthening of the Russian state in the first quarter of the 2000s, and open opposition to the West by defending its own national interests, including during the special military operation in Ukraine, accelerated the formation of a multipolar world.

Research implications. The analysis of the opinions of Russian and foreign political scientists on the consequences of the start of the special military operation in Ukraine for the world community, conducted in the framework of this study, in the future may contribute to the creation of a historical narrative aimed at uniting Russian society.

Abstract

Aim. Having analyzed several models of the past and the future, to compare them and draw conclusions about how the vision of empire has changed over time and which grounds for creating empires are more effective, as well as to analyze how the empires of the future should be different from the empires of the past. The purpose of this work is also to introduce into scientific circulation new sources containing an understanding of the problems and contradictions of empire as a phenomenon. In the article, the author focuses on the images of empires of the future shaped in the works of science fiction of the late XX – early XXI centuries.

Methodology. Based on three works selected for analysis, in which the future and the past of the imperial type are modeled, the author of the article conducts a comparative analysis of these models.

Results. The author comes to conclusions about the extent to which certain features of classical empires will be in demand in the future as well as their upcoming adaptation to new historical and civilizational conditions. Thus, the model of unification based on personal power, personal authority and strength turns out to be fragile in relation to diverse peoples who violate their cultural and confessional sovereignty, whereas the unification of equally diverse peoples facing similar challenges and united by common action leads to harmony and carries a tendency to strengthen the unity even with belonging to different cultures and beliefs.

Research implications. The research deepens the understanding of the patterns of development of large multi-ethnic and multi-confessional formations also referred to by the term “empire”. The results of the study can be used in the analysis of the development of modern state entities and in training courses on political science, philosophy and history.

Abstract

Aim. To examine several original models of deliberative democracy proposed in foreign scientific literature and provide a critical analysis of the arguments given by the authors in support of their models.

Methodology. The methods of comparative, regulatory and critical analysis are used. First of all, the model proposed by A. Gutmann and D. Thompson is considered, then, the models presented by J. Habermas, C. Nino and R. Goodin.

Results. Consideration of all the models demonstrates that, firstly, different thinkers understand the goals and meaning of deliberation in different ways, seeing it as either epistemic or non-epistemic value, and secondly, deliberation itself can be understood in two ways, namely as a discussion and as an reflection (thoughtfulness), which allows to talk about the existence of actually two different theories of deliberative democracy: discursive and reflexive.

Research implications. The results obtained make it possible to better understand the phenomenon of deliberative democracy by offering two possible classifications of the deliberative models.

Abstract

Aim. To explore the concept of "state-civilization" within the framework of the civilizational approach in political science, to determine whether Russia is a state-civilization.

Methodology. Comparative analysis and discourse analysis were used as the main methods of the research. The works of the authors who studied the subject of the civilizational approach were studied, generalization of the existing opinions was presented, problems and contradictions in the discourse on civilization were identified, and prospects for the development of this approach in political science were determined.

Results. The results of the study showed that there is a variety of definitions of the concept of "civilization", and the semantic content of the civilizational approach is understood differently by different authors. First of all, this is due to the complexity of the concept of "civilization", as well as the typologization of civilizations and the use of various features in the identification of states-civilizations. At the same time, a number of researchers agree that Russia can be ranked among the states-civilizations, that is, among those structures of the modern multipolar world that influence the formation of its future.

Research implications. The specifics of the formation of Russian identity based on the civilizational approach, as well as the prospects for further development of this topic are shown. Special attention is paid to the challenges threatening national identity. Based on the conducted research, it is concluded that it is promising to defend Russia’s historically established position on the rights of a state-civilization, and the article identifies ways to improve it.

Abstract

Methodology. The study was conducted using regression and correlation analysis on a sample of 300 adults aged 21 to 50 in romantic relationships (married couples and couples in romantic relationships).

Results. The greatest contribution to the manifestation of a high degree of jealousy in romantic relationships is made by such personality characteristics as a tendency to negative affective reactions and avoidance of discussing problems in a couple; dissatisfaction with interpersonal relationships and a high degree of tension and conflict; anxious attachment type and fear of losing the partner; dysfunctional type of emotional communication in the family of origin.

Research implications. The obtained results can be used in developing tactics for counseling married and romantic couples where jealousy becomes a destructive factor in the development of relationships leading to mistrust, destructive conflicts and the breakdown of these relationships.

Abstract

Aim. To study the nature of the connection of personality traits with the emigration attitudes of Russian youth.

Methodology. The study was conducted from December 2020 to June 2021 on a sample of 802 respondents. The average age of the respondents was 20.3 years. The following methods were used in the study: the "Scale of emigration attitudes", the Big Five Inventory. The mathematical processing was carried out using descriptive statistics and the method of modeling by structural equations.

Results. It was revealed that an increase in the willingness of young Russians to emigrate is caused by a weakening of the expression of the traits of extraversion, benevolence, conscientiousness and an increase in the expression of the trait of openness to experience.

Research implications. The theoretical and practical significance lies in expanding and deepening knowledge about the factors of the intentions of Russian youth to emigrate, using the data obtained in predicting the migration flows of young professionals. Understanding the emigration motives of young Russians allows educational institutions and government organizations to develop strategies to create favorable conditions for talented students in their homeland and keep them from emigrating.

Abstract

Aim. To elucidate the epistemic value of the linguo-axiological delimitation of a cultural-linguistic community presented as a complex discursive model.

Methodology. The linguocultural method predominates in the study. The procedures of critical discourse analysis and linguolimoligical analysis were used, as well as synchronic comparison of the linguocultural phenomena. Special techniques of sociolinguistic and linguostylistic approaches were applied.

Results. The preference of the discursive model of linguoculture is asserted when comparing it with the textual model of linguoculture. The prerequisites for choosing the basis for delimitation of linguoculture are characterized. It is proved that linguo-axiological delimitation of a language and culture entity results from the presentation of evaluative oppositions or evaluative quasi-oppositions and is consistent with Niels Bohr's principle of complementarity. The critical subtype of linguo-axiological delimitation of a language and culture entity is substantiated.

Research implications. The full heuristic consistency of the discursive model of linguoculture is revealed. The obvious relevance of the limological approach to the study of both text / discourse and a cultural-linguistic community is shown. The partial linguistic support for civic and patriotic education and the development of information and media literacy in the training of future teachers of foreign languages is carried out.

Abstract

Aim. To provide a detailed description of the personal architectonics of the artistic type of a fantasy text in three languages – Russian, English and German - using grammatical modeling.

Methodology. Systematic, structural-functional, descriptive, contextual methods, the method of segmental analysis of the text, as well as the typological method were used for the linguistic analysis of the fantasy text.

Results. Based on the grammatical analysis of the fantasy text type, its universal model based on personal invariant characteristics based on the material of the three specified languages is compiled and proven.

Research implications. The obtained research results significantly supplement the text typology with the provisions on the possibilities of its grammatical modeling, help implement correct construction of a text in foreign or native languages within such theoretical courses at the university as text linguistics, text interpretation, as well as when conducting linguistic analysis of the text in analytical reading classes.
