Abstract
In the 1920s media education became an integral part of the educational system of the Soviet Russia. The necessity and relevance of the introduction of media education was determined by political, economic, and social objectives. The article is devoted to the consideration of issues relating to the specific features of domes tic media education development in the socio-educational situation in Russia in the 1920s. The article reveals the main trends of development of the educational system in the Soviet period and the peculiarities of their influence on the development of the domestic media education in the 1920s. The author outlines the Soviet teachers and ideologists' views on the importance and necessity to use the media in the educational process.
