SIGN CHARACTER OF WRITTEN CREOLIZED TEXTS

Abstract
The subject of the present article is the sign character of creolized written texts.
The author attempts to describe different types of signs on both levels of creolized texts -
verbal and iconic. Special attention is paid to the issue of interaction between the signifi er
and the signifi ed. Variability is viewed as one of the key sign characteristics seen on both
verbal and iconic levels. The author points out the necessity of further research on the sign
character of semiotically complicated texts.
