MEANS OF CREATING A COMIC EFFECT IN A. POWELL'S "WAR TRILOGY"

Abstract
The article considers the genre of epic cycle and the means of creating a comic effect used in this genre. The author takes into consideration the history and theory of a novel as a genre, and especially the epic novel, which is written in the form of a cycle and the characteristics of the English literature of the beginning of the XXth century. Attention is focused on the portrait characterization, parody and social satire, which are the most widely used in the "war trilogy".
