https://doi.org/10.18384/2224-0209-2025-4-1653

Abstract

Aim. To determine the theoretical and methodological foundations for the introduction of the term “social world’ model” into the Russian psychology of social cognition.

Methodology. Comparative theoretical analysis of approaches to research and interpretations of the terms “social world’ image”, “world’ image”, and “social world’ model.”

Results. The authors conclude that the narrative approach and the theory of social representations can serve as theoretical and methodological foundations for describing the subjective “social world’ model.” The author's interpretation of the “social world’ model” is proposed.

Research implications. It has been shown that in situations of social uncertainty and transitivity (such as the coronavirus pandemic, local military conflicts, etc.), the concept of the “social world’ model” has a significant heuristic and diagnostic potential compared to the traditional concepts of the “world’ image”, and “social world’ image.”
