SEMANTIC IMPLICITITY OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS CONTAINING COMPONENTS “SERDTSE”, “CŒUR”, “CUORE”, “HEART” IN THE FRENCH, ITALIAN, ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN LINGUOCULTURES

Abstract

Aim. To clarify the implicit and explicit concepts of the seminal composition containing components “cœur”, “cuore”, “heart”, “сердце” in phraseological units. To identify and compare semantic connections which components like “serdtse”, “cœur”, “cuore”, “heart” create with other lexemes in French, Italian, English and Russian; to consider phraseology as a linguocultureme.

Methodology. Using a set of applied methods, including the method of analyzing dictionary definitions, a synergetic approach, a seminal analysis, and a comparative method, similarities are established; it was concluded that there are both universality of somatic phraseology and differences due to factors of national specificity, which are also highlighted in the study using a diachronic-synchronous approach.

Results. The implicit and explicit concepts of the seminal composition of the components serdtse”, “cœur”, “cuore”, “heart” included in phraseological phrases and idioms are clarified. Lexico-semantic patterns such as polysemy and variation within phraseological units are established, semantic conservation characteristic of the French language, partial deactualization in Italian and English and semantic reduction in Russian are noted using the example of the studied phraseological units with the “heart” component. Cultural and historical specifics have been established, expressed both in the preservation and in the loss of archaic meanings for each linguistic culture.

Research implications. This scientific search complements the existing research on somatic phraseology, and special cases of its manifestation at the level of language comparison are considered, which makes it possible to contribute the results to linguo-culturology. The results of the research proposed in the article have practical value, which consists in enriching lexicographic resources, their use in teaching foreign languages and translation studies to focus on linguistic and cultural features, since understanding semantic differences and similarities can contribute to more effective interaction between speakers of different cultures, as well as more accurate translation.
