В статье рассматривается система хронотопов в романе «Другая сторона» австрийского писателя и художника Альфреда Кубина. На материале хронотопов города-архива и города-замка выявляются скрытые интертекстуальные связи кубиновского текста с произведениями гротескно-фантастической литературы на рубеже XIX-XX вв. и одновременно подчёркивается реализованная в книге Кубина интенция, связанная с критикой т. н. «габсбургского мифа». Возникающие в романе фантастические мотивы живого портрета, магического глаза, сонной эпидемии одновременно формируют отчётливый австро-венгерский колорит, отсылая к реалиям времён правления Франца Иосифа.
The article examines the system of chronotopes in “The Other Side" (Die andere Seite), a novel by Austrian writer and artist Alfred Kubin. Basing on the material of such chronotopes as: city-archive and city-castle, the author discloses the hidden intertextual connections between Kubin's novel and works of the grotesque-fantastic literature from the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. Simultaneously, the critical intention towards the “Habsburg myth", exhibited by Kubin, is emphasized. Fantastic motifs of a live portrait, a magic eye, and a sleeping epidemic, described in the novel, generate a distinct flavor of the Dual Monarchy, referring to the realities of the rule of Franz Joseph.
