Poland and Northwestern Rumania is known under the general ethnic name of Ruthenians
(Rusyns). In their religious faith they are Eastern Orthodox Church believers and
Greсo- Catholics. Their status of an ethnic minority was recognized by the United Nations,
the European Union and European countries, with the exception of Ukraine. Not having any
statehood, they use four koines (linguae franca) Lemkovian, Prjashevian, Uzhgorodian and
Vojevodian. Their alphabet is mainly Cyrillic. The Ruthenian language differs from Ukrainian
and Slovakian on the lexical level. The koines differ from each other phonetically and grammatically.
The same differences can be found when compared with neighboring languages.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>русинский язык</kwd><kwd>лемки</kwd><kwd>паннонские</kwd><kwd>подкарпатские русины (рутены)</kwd><kwd>лемковское</kwd><kwd>пряшевское</kwd><kwd>воеводинское</kwd><kwd>ужгородское койне</kwd><kwd>униаты (греко-католики)</kwd><kwd>православные</kwd><kwd>Закарпатская Русь</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Ruthenian languages</kwd><kwd>Lemki</kwd><kwd>Pannonian</kwd><kwd>Sub-Carpathian Ruthenians</kwd><kwd>koines (linguae franca) Lemkovian</kwd><kwd>Prjashevian</kwd><kwd>Uzhgorodian and Vojevodian</kwd><kwd>Uniate Church members (Greсo-Catholics)</kwd><kwd>Eastern Orthodox Church believers</kwd><kwd>Transcarpathian Rus</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Гарайда И.
